WHAT IS A MIAM?
Family disputes can be emotionally taxing and complex, especially when they escalate quickly and require immediate attention. In such situations, an urgent Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) can be a crucial first step towards resolution. Solent Family Mediation offers a comprehensive and efficient service to help families navigate these challenging times.
What is an Urgent MIAM? An urgent MIAM is a fast-tracked mediation session designed to address pressing family issues promptly. This first meeting is essential for those who need to make a court application while attempting mediation. It provides a structured environment where parties can discuss their disputes with the guidance of an accredited family mediator. This voluntary process can be conducted as an online MIAM, offering flexibility and convenience. When Will I Need an Urgent MIAM?
You will need an urgent MIAM in situations where immediate action is required to address family disputes. This includes instances where you need to apply for a court order urgently, such as for child arrangements (Form C100) or financial matters (Form A). An urgent MIAM is necessary when there is a risk to a child's safety or well-being, in cases involving domestic abuse, or when there is a threat of a child being taken unlawfully out of the country. Additionally, if conflicts escalate rapidly and require prompt intervention to prevent further deterioration of relationships, an urgent MIAM can help facilitate a timely resolution. This meeting with an accredited mediator provides a structured and professional setting to address pressing issues effectively and explore possible solutions and next steps before court proceedings.Take Action NOW

HOW QUICKLY CAN I ARRANGE AN URGENT MIAM?
the benefits of an urgent miam
TIMELY
An urgent MIAM appointment with Solent allows you to address pressing family disputes quickly, often within 24 hours. This prompt action can prevent conflicts from escalating further, reducing emotional stress and potential harm. By tackling family issues early and working on your solutions you can work towards a resolution before they become more complicated.
avoid delays
An Urgent MIAM is for situations where you need to apply to court while also attempting mediation. We schedule an appointment within 2 working days and provide your court form within 24 hours. We will still notify the other party unless there are exceptional reasons not to. This allows you to proceed with a court application while mediation efforts are ongoing.
CONFIDENTIAL
Mediation is confidential, ensuring discussions remain private and are not disclosed outside the mediation process. This confidentiality encourages open and honest communication between parties. Moreover, participation in mediation is a voluntary process, which means both parties are there by choice, fostering a more cooperative and constructive environment for resolving disputes.
